Hi Kids Hey, have a nice holiday? I hope you had a good Christmas, if you celebrate it. I had a blast and spent time with family and friends. I must say I am sick of wrapping presents. There were so many, and it took hours upon hours. If I have to wrap one more I think I'll scream. Unfortunately I had to wrap another today, a birthday present, for my boyfriend. Those of you who have a birthday right around the holiday's must feel totally ripped off. I mean everyone's broke from buying gifts and they have to go buy one more. I know a lot of time I do give my boyfriend one gift for Xmas and tell him it's for his birthday too, but it's usually something pretty expensive if I do that. Today he's getting fancy dress shoes he wanted. Nothing thrilling there, but he did say he needed them. If you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas go buy it yourself...You'll feel better. If you noticed there was no issue on Nov 30th. I was being
pulled in so many directions I simply ran out of time to get
everything done for the month. Then with the holiday activities
it really added to my slow down. We do have New Year's still

"Sometimes Shorter is Better"

If you publish an ezine or you promote affiliate programs
you've no doubt come across the problem of web site
addresses (aka url's) that are just way too long. You
know the ones I'm talking about as they usually sound
like supercalifregolousespealidocious...or something a
long those lines.
Long url's can be a problem for a few reasons. The first
being they wrap onto more than one line and if you publish
an ezine or run ads with your affiliate link this just
doesn't work. Many times the links won't function at all
if they are chopped in the wrong place, or they just ruin
the look of the ezine itself.
Also, if you're an affiliate and sell other people's products
or services you'll find due to the tracking code that many
of the links given to you are very long. There may be other
times when you just don't want others to know you're an
affiliate and a url shortening service is just the ticket
to
disguise that fact.
There are many services online that allow you to paste
in your long url and get back a shorter one. Sound simple?
Sure it is. Let's examine a few of these services a
little further.
1) Tiny URL http://www.TinyUrl.com
My personal favorite and since I've seen this one
being used a lot I'd say it's one of the more popular
services online today. Free to use.
2) SnipURL http://www.Snipurl.com
Another free service but this one allows you to use
nicknames in the url's generated. You can use it without
registering but if you do you'll gain access to more
options like searching through your "snipped url's"
and viewing how popular some of them are. This one
even tells you how much percentage you are saving
with the new shorter link compared to the old longer
one.
3) Shorl http://www.Shorl.com
A nice feature of this free service is stats. For
each short url you create you're given a password
and a direct link to check and see how many hits
that link actually gets. Pretty cool.
4) NotLong http://www.NotLong.com
This free service also allows the use of a "nickname"
if you'd like to include some descriptive text in
your links. After the shorter link is generated
you'll be given a password and the direct link to
check your stats later on. The password and stats
are optional but a nice perk if you want to track
hits on a link.
5) TinyLink http://www.TinyLink.com
Developed by a French Med student it's free to use.
Just paste your long url in the form and hit create
to see your new shorter link.
Remember, shortening url's can be helpful in your daily
life as an online entrepreneur, but since you're using
an outside service there's no guarantee that the links
will last forever. But then again, with the ever changing
face of the Internet, what does?
